Vintage Amber Candlestick Holder w/ Beaded Panels & Crimped Edges by Fenton for L.G. Wright Glass
PRODUCT DETAILS
Candlestick holder by L.G. Wright Glass. This gorgeous amber-colored piece has a beaded panel pattern and delicately ruffled/crimped edges. It sits on a beaded stem with a 3 1/4" wide, round base. In beautiful vintage condition with no apparent chips or cracks. Measures approximately 4 1/2" tall and 6 1/2" across at the furthest points.
L.G. Wright Glass has a unique history that makes its pieces interesting, but often difficult to accurately identify and date. Unlike other glass companies at the time, L.G. Wright never pressed any of their own glass. Instead, they hired other manufacturers to create pieces for them, including Fenton, Summit, Westmoreland, and more. Many of their collections were created using molds purchased from previous companies as well, making accurate identification even more complicated.
From my research, I believe this piece was made by Fenton for L.G. Wright, most likely in the mid-1900s. Similarities can be drawn between this Wright piece and Northwood Glass' ever-popular Opal Open Rose bowl, and for good reason. The original Northwood mold (#562) used for the Opal Open Rose was later used to create Wright's beaded panel form (producing this candleholder, Wright product #3-1, as well as a stemmed compote).
L.G. Wright had a unique approach to the glass industry but maintained a reputation for high-quality, beautiful designs, and this amber candlestick holder is a gorgeous example of that.
